Our motto is

#COACH CLEAN | #STAY IN SCOPE | #GET RESULTS |

The Global Commission of Mental Wellness Coaching (GCMWC) is a standards-based organization focused on training and certifying Mental Wellness Coaches through a structured, evidence-informed model.

GCMWC was created in response to a clear gap in the mental health ecosystem. Clinical care is essential, but often limited by access, time, and system constraints. Coaching has expanded quickly, but without consistent training standards or defined scope.

The result is a large population of people seeking support for behavioral patterns, emotional instability, and life transitions without a reliable level of care.

GCMWC addresses that gap directly.
Mental health support is fragmented.

The Problem

On one end, clinical services are often limited by access, cost, and system constraints. On the other, the coaching industry has grown rapidly without consistent standards, oversight, or depth of training.

This has created a gap where individuals are seeking help, but the support they receive is inconsistent, unstructured, and in some cases, ineffective.

There is currently no unified global standard that bridges behavioral science, mental health awareness, and coaching practice in a way that is both practical and scalable.

What the GCMWC Does

GCMWC provides a structured training and certification pathway designed to develop competent, ethical, and effective Mental Wellness Coaches.

#1 Ultimate Integration

The program integrates principles of behavioral psychology, emotional regulation, identity development, and coaching methodology into a cohesive framework that can be applied across diverse populations and settings.

#2 Move Beyond Theory

Training is designed to move beyond theory, focusing on real-world application, pattern recognition, and measurable client outcomes.

#3 Clear Expectations

GCMWC establishes clear expectations for scope of practice, coach competency, and professional conduct, ensuring that graduates are prepared to operate responsibly within the mental wellness space.

Leadership and Clinical Foundation

GCMWC is founded by Dr. Maxine Chi-Chi Okafor, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Family Nurse Practitioner.

The program is informed by over a decade of clinical and mental health experience, with a focus on translating real-world patient patterns into practical, scalable coaching frameworks.

What Sets GCMWC Apart

GCMWC develops and delivers a structured training program designed to prepare individuals to work as Mental Wellness Coaches within a clearly defined scope of practice.

The training focuses on helping clients identify and change patterns that show up across relationships, decision-making, and emotional responses.
  • Behavioral pattern identification and interruption
  • Emotional and cognitive regulation strategies
  • Ethical coaching within a defined scope of practice
  • Integration of mental health awareness without clinical overreach
  • Behavioral pattern identification and interruption
  • Practical coaching skills with real-time application and feedback
The program is designed for application. Students are expected to demonstrate competency, not just complete coursework.

Global Development

GCMWC is actively expanding across the United States and Nigeria, with a focus on building a scalable model for mental wellness support.

The organization works through training programs, community initiatives, and partnerships to increase access to structured, non-clinical mental health support.

The long-term focus is to establish Mental Wellness Coaching as a recognized and standardized field.
